What We Do
Hello! My name is Jim and it is with excitement and optimism that I have taken on the wonderful challenge of leading an organization whose sole purpose for existence is to help children and families.
We help heal children who have been traumatized by abuse and neglect --
innocents -- who through misfortune have had to endure, at times, unimaginable physical and psychological wounds. Through our work with these children in
Residential Treatment,
Foster Care and
Caregiver Support we attempt to repair the emotional damage of their life experiences.
What is it that we do? In my effort to explain to staff that everything they do matters, I say: We, in the manner and style of how we relate to the children, influence whether change will occur.
- If we are respectful, the child learns the importance of respect.
- If we work hard to provide for safety, the child will develop courage.
- If we are hopeful, the child begins to see a future.
- If we are consistent and reliable, the child begins to have faith that life can somehow be predictable.
- If we are fair, the child begins to see himself or herself as worthy.
- If we respond with care to a child's anger, the child will learn that his or her pain is heard and that anger may no longer be necessary to survive.
Thank you for your kindness, understanding and support of The Youth Campus and these special children.
Sincerely,

James J. Guidi, PsyD, CADC
