That's what foster parents and adoptive parents do: they protect, love and nurture children who are less fortunate, giving them the chance for a stable, happy life. We can help you become one of the special people who makes a difference in a child's life.

Why Work with TYC?
The Youth Campus (TYC) is a licensed, accredited, not-for-profit organization dedicated to children in need since 1877. We are one of the few specialized foster care programs in the State of Illinois. We need people who want to make a difference in a child's life by fostering or adopting that child.

What's Involved?
Foster and adoptive parents care for a child in need, both physically and emotionally. By doing so, they inspire hope and improve the future for a child. To welcome a child into your life, TYC offers a number of opportunities based on the child's needs.

Assuring enough quality time with a child is important in all families. Time commitments for successful fostering differ by child. Successful foster parents participate in training and devote time to the special needs of the child. We can provide you with details when you contact us.

Foster Parent Requirements:
To join our special team of foster parent caregivers, you will need to:

be at least 21 years of age
have a place to live with room for a child
earn an income
have a vehicle
complete a background check
undergo a medical exam
complete pre-service training
collaborate with staff
be available to work with birth parents
attend regular meetings and trainings

You are not alone
As rewarding as it can be, raising a foster child can be a challenge. The Youth Campus provides continuous support through a casemanager, mentoring groups and counseling before and after you welcome a child into your home.
